In March, the Opportunities for Carlton network came together to reflect on the great achievements through the project to date, and to explore the key theme of sustainability in Carlton. In partnership with the City of Melbourne’s Eco-City Forums, we explored options to transform Carlton into a 'green' precinct, reducing our ecological footprint through active community involvement.

Moreland Energy Foundation
MEFL is an independent not-for-profit organization established by the Moreland City Council to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the municipality – with lots of handy hints on steps to take to reduce greenhouse emissions within our local community.

Department of Human Services – Smart Energy Zones
The Department of Human Services will supply each new public and social housing building at the Carlton redevelopment with a cogeneration plant. The gas utilised by the plant will be off-set through electricity provided on-site by both wind turbines and solar photovoltaics (PVs) to achieve a 'Zero Carbon' development.

The not-for-profit Carlton Community Website is an initiative of the Carlton Together Working Group - Opportunities for Carlton Project. The community website enables the coordination of information, events and discussions across Carlton and creates a digital meeting space for the community.
